ART-is

Hi guys!
Another day, another blog!
Hope you had a great day!
Here some brain food.
Guess what? Well I’m not the only one who id inspired by Vanitas Art moment. The absorbing art had managed to fascinate a lot of artist.
Vanitas (pronk) inspired painting by Audrey Flack
Vanitas art movement took place in the 17th century. It was then when people strongly believed in mortality and the reality of vanity- It fades and eventually vanishes.
A lot of people simply adores the still lives from Vanitas because of the strong use of colours and depth of the frame. But some people connect to  the lesson that it teaches on a personal level.
While I was researching for Vanitas painting I came across someone who painted similar Vanitas style painting but is much modern in the approach.
Audrey Flack
One such artist from the 20th century who is an inspiration to the world and is also amongst the people who kept the 17th century’s art alive. Her name is Audrey Flack.
Audrey Flack is an artist born in 1931 who is known for her feminist work shown through Photorealism. She believed in learning and never stopping. May be her own life principles were similar to that of Vanitas  and so her work consists of depth and wisdom.
She explored much more than painting, starting from painted to photography and airbrush painting she further found interest in self portraits and later in 3D art like carving sculptures.

Her carving work evolved over the time into impressive tall sculptures of Goddesses who resonate strength and independence.
Marylin(1977) : Vanitas still life inspired painting by Audrey Flack
Audrey painted Marilyn in 1977 which was a modern outcome of a rebellious feminist mindset who wanted to bring a change.
The Vanitas inspired painting by Flack consisted 2 colourless portraits of Marilyn Monroe surrounded by intensely airbrush painted objects life melting candles and rotting fruits. Which I believe depicted the Vanity of life using Marilyn’s picture but showing how all of it is superficial by the depiction of Melting light.
World War || : Vanitas still life inspired painting by Audrey Flack
Another of Audrey’s career changing Still life painting was called World War || which was painted in 1977 much later than the actual war.

It included all the luxuries like silver vessels and roses and cake, but she stages a photograph from one of the liberation camps during the wartime. It simply tries to make us understand that all riches have to end after a time.
I’m deeply inspired by reading about Audrey. She is a lady with a purpose. She went from different stages in life and yet stayed strong. Her art describes everything about her which is strong feminist woman, creative and emotional. Her self portraits too had a meaning to it. Her Vanitas inspired Still life ;Marilyn, describes every aspect of life including fashion itself. She used 2 same portraits of Marylin Monroe who was one of the biggest fashion and glamour icon in the 70’s. Apart from it, she used some amazing techniques and brush strokes good enough to make Marylin the biggest hit of Audrey’s life.
It inspired me, that I can also do more to my still life. Something that is a part of me that I could put in the frame.
Audrey Flack is an inspiration And influncer in true sense. It was her painting resonating her persona that gave me the idea to add an element of fun and glam to my still life set up.
Sharing further details soon,
Until next time!
